Community Description
Short Description: Hampton is 20 miles from Gainesville and 20 miles from Jacksonville. Henry Saxon, Sr had a farmhouse in the center of the present City of Hampton. When he moved to another farm, a family by the name of Terry moved into the farmhouse. As a community formed about the tracks near the Terry farm, it was given the name of Terry's 10-year-old son, Hampton.
Nearby communities include Waldo (5.5 miles), Starke (6 miles), Keystone Heights (9 miles), Lawtey (13.5 miles), Brooker (13.5 miles), Lake Butler (18 miles), Hawthorne (19 miles) and Gainesville (19.5 miles).
