Short Description: The county seat of Okaloosa County, Crestview is located at the junction of three major highways (US-90, SR-85, and I-10), which resulted in its acclaimed designation as the Hub City of northwest Florida. Crestview is 40 miles east of Pensacola, 140 miles west of Tallahassee and 30 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico.
Outside the city limits of Crestview, is the Eglin Air Force Base Reservation. Just 30 miles south of Crestview are Destin and Fort Walton Beach The Blackwater River State Forest, located just northwest of Crestview, is the largest state forest in Florida with 190,000 acres.
Crestview was named for its location on the top of a high hill between the Yellow and Shoal rivers on the east and west side of the City, the highest point on the old Pensacola and Apalachicola Railroad. Crestviews elevation of 235 feet above sea level places it as one of the highest points in the state.
Community events include an annual festival commemorating the Old Spanish Trail settlers who made Crestview a popular stopping place along the way westward and the Old Spanish Trail Park is also host to an annual Music Fest.
