Short Description: Edgewood is 3 miles from Orlando and 80 from Tampa. Edgewood is located on the shores of Lakes Conway, Gatlin, Jennie Jewel, Jessamine and Mary Jess.
In 1924, the nineteen residents who lived just north of the Pine Castle are met and voted to become an incorporated town. They named the new town Edgewood, possibly because it was a wooded area on the edge of Lake Conway. In 1960, Edgewood was declared a bird sanctuary.
Nearby communities include Pine Castle (1.5 miles), Holden Heights (1.5 miles), Sky Lake (2 miles), Belle Isle (2 miles), Conway (3 miles), Orlando (3 miles), Oak Ridge (3.5 miles) and Taft (4 miles).
