Community Description
Short Description: Deltona is adjacent to the Cities of DeBary, Orange City, Lake Helen and just south of DeLand. The City of Deltona also abuts the rural communities of Cassadaga, Enterprise and Osteen. Developed in the 1960's by the Mackle brothers, developers who designed numerous inexpensive communities for northern transplants throughout Florida. Deltona was marketed worldwide as the ultimate planned community on the rolling ground north of Lake Monroe. The name was derived as a hybrid of the nearby older communities of Daytona Beach and DeLand.
The annual budget of the community is $95 million. Deltona is a bedroom community for the Daytona Beach to Orlando metropolitan area with a greater nighttime population than during the workday. I-4 provides regional transportation access and allows Deltona to be very accessible to the Daytona Beach and Orlando Metropolitan Area both 25 miles away. Deltona Inquiry:
| Q. | I recently moved to Deltona from New York. I am looking for card players. I love to play euchre, poker, canasta, etc.
I am not a senior citizen, but any group of people who play cards on a regular basis and is looking for another player, I would like to contact them. | | A. | A couple of suggestions first contact the Parks & Recreation Director in Deltona Chris A. Wilsman at 407.302.5205 or email him at cwilsman@ci.deltona.fl.us. You might also check with the Sanford Senior Citizens Center at 407.302.1010, located at 401 E Seminole Blvd between N Palmetto Ave and N Sanford Ave. They are a very active senior center. One of those two should be able to steer you in the right direction.
