| | Q. | When and what time does the trick-or-treating events start for the children in the Carrolwood area in Hillsborough county? | | A. | Since Halloween falls on a Monday this year, Trick-or-treaters can have 3 days to gather candy and other treats. With no official Hillsborough County date, most local events are being held on Saturday or all three days. In the Carrollwood area, the Fall Festival of the Tampa Covenant Church, at 13320 Lake Magdalene Blvd, will be held from 3-7 PM with a costume contest and games for the children. The Carrollwood Players are presenting "Dracula" on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 4333 Gunn Highway, 813.265.4000. Of course in Ybor City is Guavaween with safe trick or treating, music, rides, contests and the children's costume contest and parade. Finally at the Lowry Park Zoo at 1101 W. Sligh Ave, is Zoo Boo through Monday night, 813.935.8552.

Don't forget Guavaween is being held in Tampa's Ybor City Historic District billed as “Halloween-Latin style” with food vendors, costume contests, daytime family fun and evening parade. The fireworks can be viewed from the Florida Aquarium, American Victory, Channelside, Yacht Starship, Contanchobee Park, Marriott Waterside, Harbour Island, St. Pete Times Forum and Bayshore.

At the end of Big Bend Road near power station? | | A. | The 565-acre county-owned Wolf Branch Nature Preserve encompasses the shoreline of Tampa Bay between E.G. Simmons Park and Apollo Beach, and the basin of Wolf Branch, a tidal creek, from its mouth upstream to Villemaire Road. The preserve includes approximately 1.5 miles of mangrove shoreline, high marsh native plant communities is teeming with snook, redfish and bass. Your visit will not be complete without a stop by the Manatee Viewing Center (open November to March) to see Manatees swimming in the inlet off Big Bend Road near the Tampa Electric Company plant you mention.

Feb 7, 2004 will be the 100th anniversary of the Gasparilla Pirate Festival with Pirates sailing into downtown Tampa on the world's only fully rigged Pirate Ship. Tugboats tow the craft and its crew of pirates with flags flying and cannons blazing as the ship makes its way on Bayshore Boulevard along Hillsborough Bay into Downtown.
