The
Heroes of Horticulture exhibit, currently on display at the George Eastman Museum of Film and Photography in Rochester, NY, has a traveling sign board exhibition. There are only 20 in the country and Naples was chosen to be a host city this past December 2nd.
The unveiling is January 15th at the Naples Beach & Golf Hotel - 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM. Garden Design magazine, The SW Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Naples Back Yard History, and ASTORINO are sponsors for the reception.
This exhibition coincides with the visit of Charles Birnbaum, President of The Cultural Landscape Foundation out of Washington, DC.
http://www.tclf.org The Cultural Landscape Foundation is the only not-for-profit foundation in America dedicated to increasing the public's awareness of the importance and irreplaceable legacy of cultural landscapes.
Charles Birnbaum, FASLA, FAAR , will be in Naples January 14-17, 2008 to conduct a first ever cultural landscape review of the City of Naples which will be detailed at a breakfast meeting on January 17th from 7:30 - 9:00 AM.
Please join me in welcoming Mr. Birnbaum on Tuesday, January 15th and enjoy this unique collection from some of the country's most esteemed photo-journalist. Their perspectives of formal and vernacular trees and plantings are associated with historically important people and events that have shaped the development of communities and cultures. They truly stand as living witnesses to our country's past and have the potential to bear witness to coming generations. I do believe that these natural elements command the same awe and admiration that we bequeath upon brilliant artists, poets, and scholars.
No reservations are needed. We will serve hors d'ouvres and a cash bar will be provided.
After the unveiling, Hodges University will serve as the host for the Heroes of Horticulture Sign Board Exhibition.
