Community Description
Short Description: A bedroom community to Gainesville and 80 miles from Jacksonville, Archer has a long agricultural history of citrus since the 1880s.
Prior to 1850, the town was called Deer Hammock and later Dardens Hammock was located on a 40-acre town site.
