Community Description
Short Description: Montverde is 21 miles from Orlando and 70 miles from Tampa. Established in 1885, Montverde was originally named "Monte Verde," Spanish for "green hill." The name referred originally to the hills of citrus groves near the site, although this is now a grape-growing region. The town is situated on the banks of Lake Apopka and Lake Florence in the hills of Florida.
Nearby communities include Ferndale (2.5 miles), Oakland (4.5 miles), Minneola (5 miles), Clermont (6 miles), Tildenville (6.5 miles), Winter Garden (7 miles) and Astatula (9 miles).
