Short Description: The county seat of Pinellas County and originally called Clear Water Harbor, Clearwater extends across the middle of the suburban peninsula between Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Clearwater's has 3 miles of beachfront including Sand Key. Other attractions include Mizner Park, Coachman Park, the daily sunset celebrations at the1080 foot-pier, Live Pier 60 Park, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and Harborview Center Station Square Park with Harborview Convention Center.
The city spans from the Gulf to Mexico to Tampa Bay, including 8.5 miles of waterways and lakes. Pinellas County Recreational Trail, a wonderful place for walkers, bikers, joggers and skaters, stretches 47 beautiful miles (76 km) from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs. Clearwater is home to the Clearwater Phillies "A" Team and the Philadelphia Phillies Spring Training.
Clearwater Beach is a four-mile Memorial Causeway connecting an island of white beaches to the mainland. The beach extends the full length of the island and is between 350 and 1,700 feet wide. The Clearwater Marina located near Pier 60 houses the largest fishing fleet on the West Coast of Florida.
Annual events: The 10-day Fun 'n Sun Festival at the end of April into early May; and Jazz Holiday, held the third Weekend of October in Coachman Park. Turkey Trot held in November and the annual Fourth of July Festival. The Sunset Celebrations at Pier 60 is a nightly street festival featuring local artists, crafters and performers.
