Volusia County Inquiry:
| Q. | are venders allowed to have pets, at Wednesday's Market? | | A. | The Wednesday, Volusia County Farmers Market in DELAND at 3000 E. New York. features over 450 dealers with both indoor and outdoor space. As a visitor, I have seen several of the outdoor vendors with small, quiet pets, but you would need to call them directly for their Vendor Rules & Regulations at 904.734.1614.
| | Q. | Can you please tell me where flu shots are available in the Ormond Beach/Ormond by the Sea area. | | A. | The Volusia County Health Department (386.274.0500) will be offering flu shot vaccine at these nearby locations:
Oct 25 from 3:45 to 5:45 PM at the Central Baptist Church 142 Fairview Ave in Daytona Beach and Nov 11-12 and Dec 1-2, 2006 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Wal-Mart Supercenter 1101 Beville Rd also in Daytona Beach.
| | Q. | Hi,I will be visiting the Daytona Beach area in mid April and am extremely interested in wildlife. Would you be able to recommend any places I may visit on my trip? I am not interested in the typical "touristy" attractions, having lived in Tampa for many years and been to those attractions. I am looking for the "native" places, such as wildlife sanctuaries, off the beaten path places to experience wildlife in their natural settings. Would you know of any places that I may be able to volunteer for a day or two? Thank you so much for your help. I truly appreciate it. Sincerely, Cheryl | | A. | The most obvious is the 57,000 acres Canaveral National Seashore with 24 miles of undeveloped beaches with limited services south of Daytona Beach and north of the Kennedy Space Center, 386.428.3384. But not a Florida secret. You might want to travel 25 miles west of Daytona Beach to the remote Hontoon Island State Park on the St. Johns River, six miles west of DeLand off SR-44. Accessible only by boat or park operated ferry; Hontoon Island is 1,648 acres of natural Florida. You may want to contact their local citizen support group to see if they can use a day or two of volunteer assistance at 386.736.5309 or by Email. Huntoon is the sister park to the largest spring on the St. Johns River the famous West Indian Manatee winter refuge Blue Spring State Park, also a good possibility 386.775.3663.
| | Q. | Where will flu shots be available in ormond beach? | | A. | The Volusia County Clinic in Daytona Beach gives flu shots on Wednesday between 8:30 AM and 11:30 AM. They are located at 1845 Holsonback Drive. Call a day ahead of time to ensure the vaccine is available at: 386.274.0635.
| | Q. | where will be the next flu shot given in the DeBary area? Thank you for your help and I enjoyed the website. I am a new resident and first time user of the website. Ellen | | A. | There are no Volusia County listed events in DeBary for the next few weeks. You may want to contact the DeLand Immunization Department, 1330 S. Woodland Blvd in DeLand, 386.822.6215. The DeLand office is open each afternoon and on Friday morning and afternoon. The Deltona Health Center, 1555 Saxon Blvd in Deltona, 386.575.0373 is also an option. The Deltona office is only open on Friday.
| | Q. | Will there be free flu shots for the general public offered in Volusia co., close to DeBary? | | A. | The nearest location would be the Winn Dixie at 2701 Woodland Boulevard in DeLand that will be giving flu shots between 10 AM and 2 PM on Saturday, November 5, 2005. I cannot say for certain if the shots are free. There are cases, where this might be waived, but I would anticipate paying the usual $25.00.
| | Q. | Where is the closest airport, to fly to Pierson FL | | A. |
| | Q. | I am trying to find and intimates shop in edgewater, NSB or port orange area. I need a corset for biketoberfest. can you help me. maybe a costume shop would work too. thanks ginny | | A. | In New Smyrna Beach there is a shop called Intimate Moments at 658 N Dixie Freeway, 386.423.0010. There are also several shops just north of you in the South Daytona area. In Daytona Beach there is a Victoria's Secret east on US-92, across from Daytona Int'l Speedway at the Volusia Mall, 386.257.3007. Also, while quite a distance west at the Altamonte Mall in Altamonte Springs, 451 Altamonte Avenue there is a Frederick's of Hollywood, 407.834.0041. They have an extensive corset collection.
| | Q. | I recently moved to Deltona from New York. I am looking for card players. I love to play euchre, poker, canasta, etc.
I am not a senior citizen, but any group of people who play cards on a regular basis and is looking for another player, I would like to contact them. | | A. | A couple of suggestions first contact the Parks & Recreation Director in Deltona Chris A. Wilsman at 407.302.5205 or email him at cwilsman@ci.deltona.fl.us. You might also check with the Sanford Senior Citizens Center at 407.302.1010, located at 401 E Seminole Blvd between N Palmetto Ave and N Sanford Ave. They are a very active senior center. One of those two should be able to steer you in the right direction.
