Community Description
Short Description: Located 50 miles from Pensacola, Valparaiso, spanish for "Valley of Paradise" is a landlocked community. The name originally was taken from the city in Indiana, which in turn was named for the famous Chilean port. A planned community, Valparaiso was settled between Boggy and Toms Bayous at the western end of Choctawatchee Bay. Valparaiso has one of the few municipally owned cable television systems in the state.
Nearby communities include Niceville (2 miles), Eglin AFB (5 miles), Lake Lorraine (7 miles), Shalimar (7.5 miles), Destin (8 miles), Ocean City (8 miles), Cinco Bayou (9.5 miles) and Fort Walton Beach (10 miles).
