Short Description: Interlachen is 30 miles from Gainesville and 50 miles from Jacksonville. The town was settled in 1872. The first Town Hall building was constructed in 1892 and still stands at the corners of Commonwealth and Atlantic Avenues. The town was first known as "Blue Pond" and was so named because of the beautiful lake nearby. That lake is now known as Lake Lagonda.
Nearby communities include Hawthorne, FL (13.5 miles), Keystone Heights, FL (15 miles), Palatka, FL (17 miles), Welaka, FL (18 miles), East Palatka, FL (20.5 miles), Pomona Park, FL (22 miles), Waldo, FL (22 miles) and Hampton, FL (23.5 miles).

TELL ME IS THIS AREA BUILDING UP TO THE POINT WHERE WE MIGHT BE HOPEFULL IN SELLING THIS? | | A. | The Interlachen area has grown a little as a nice lakes area, especially with the improvements to Hwy-20 between Gainesville and St Augustine. But the entire market has been down across the real estate market and it will be a while before any major changes in Interlachen make it a positive place to sell property. This is mostly because there is a large backlog of platted vacant lots in Interlachen at this time.
