Brevard County Inquiry:
| Q. | need driving directions from micco florida to port canaveral cruise lines
| | A. | From Micco the drive is about an hour or 40 miles away. Head north on Marlin Circle toward Dolphin Circle and turn left at Brown Road and then an immediate right at Micco Road. Then turn left at US-1 N for 15 miles until you turn right at US-192. Drive 2 miles and then turn left at SR-A1A. Drive 21 miles and then turn right at Astronaut Blvd/SR-A1A N and an immediate left at N Atlantic Avenue and then right at Adams Avenue to Port Canaveral.
| | Q. | How many miles is Melborne Airport from Orlando? | | A. | Orlando is just over 60 miles from the Melbourne International Airport. Just take I-95 south from the airport to US-192/SR-500 and then turn east on that route, also part of the historic Dixie Highway. Just west of St Cloud take the Florida Turnpike north into Orlando.
| | Q. | How can I obtain a map of Brevard County? Thanks. Barney | | A. | Email the Melbourne-Palm Bay Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) or give them a phone call at 800.7719922. They have a good Brevard County map. If you would like to print one online go to Florida County Maps and they have a map for each of Florida's 67 counties.

| | Q. | My question is very important to me, please find out and let me know the answer. What time of the day was Sunset on JULY 8TH 2005? Thank you so very much for your assistance. Also where can I find a site that would tell me the time of sunsets. Lynne | | A. | The rising and the setting of the sun and the moon are valuable commodities, appreciated here in Florida, and many sites from thesunrisetimes.com to sunrissesunset.com will give you a variety of responses. To find a highly accurate source for sunsets in Cocoa, we went right to the professional leader, the US Naval Observatory. The Observatory says the Sunset on July 8th was 8:24 PM in Cocoa.
For complete accuracy as supportive evidence, we went to a source that has been time-tested, decade after decade after decade and in our belief, a tried and trusted source, The Old Farmer's Almanac which agrees the Sunset on July 8th in Cocoa was indeed 8:24 PM.
| | Q. | I used to live in Melbourne and loved to watch the turtles come to lay eggs. I now live in Iowa and am bringing my 7 and 9 year old children with me and would love them to have the opportunity to see such an amazing sight. Can you tell me when the nesting period is? I can't remember. Thank you so much. | | A. |
Leatherbacks the largest sea turtle species with a thick leathery carapace instead of a hard shell. The nesting season is May 1 through October 31 of each year. During this time, beach residents must shield all lights that can be seen from the beach from 9pm to 7am. Motorized vehicles and open fires are not allowed on the beach during the sea turtle nesting season.
Beginning in late April until early July, it is not uncommon to be able to watch the sea turtles come ashore to nest. It is imporant to know that lights can affect how the female seat turtles enter and leave their nesting sites and in how the newly emerged hatchlings find their way to the ocean. Several areas in Florida offer noctural field trips to watch this exciting adventure, so check with the local recreation department for possible trips.
| | Q. | how do i reach rockledge from st. petersburg | | A. | Rockledge is almost due east of St. Petersburg on the Atlantic side of Florida just of Cocoa. So in St Petersburg take I-275 northeast into Tampa until you pick up I-4 that takes you toward Orlando. On the south side of Orlando look for the Bee Line Expressway (FL 528). If you miss it you can take the next exit that will be FL 482 that also intersects the Bee Line Expressway (FL 528). The Bee Line is a toll road but is the quickest shot across the state. You can either take the Bee Line until it runs into I-95 and then take I-95 south a few miles to Rockledge or look early for (FL 520) which crosses I-95 directly into the City of Rockledge.
| | Q. | What government functions are located in the City of Cocoa's City Hall? | | A. | City Hall functions include the office of City Manger; City Clerk; Finance; Economic Development, which includes Community Redevelopment; Administrative Services which includes Human Resources, Information Technology, Purchasing/Warehouse and Fleet Management and Community Development which includes Building and Occupation Licensing, Code Enforcement, Housing and Neighborhood Services and Planning and Zoning. As a full-service city, outside of the City Hall, the City of Cocoa also includes Fire; Police; Public Works and Utilities, which includes Engineering, Water and Wastewater Services.
