Sarasota County Inquiry:
| Q. | How warm is the water in Siesta Key at the end of January? If it is cold when does the water become warm? When is the best time to vacation there? Thank you. | | A. | In January the water around Siesta Key is cold to locals, but not to winter visitors from up North. It actually can get cold this time of year....but always much warmer than in northern areas. While the waters then stay around 60s to 70s, if there is a cold blizzard up north, Siesta Key can be as low as 50 degrees, usually warming back up to the mid-70s. The prime times for winter visitors is January-March with less visitors in the next prime time of October-December.
| | Q. | Can you please tell me if you have affordable beach side rentals in Casey Key for July? | | A. | The barrier island of Casey Key is located just south of Siesta Key. A small list of quality nearby options include: Gulf Surf Resort (941.966.2669); Lakefront House (888.439.8718); West Wind Apts (800.449.5411) each in Nokomis along with Ramada Sarasota South in Osprey (800.854.7854) and A Beach Retreat on Casey Key Road (941.485.8771).
| | Q. | In light of all of this hurricane season, how has Siesta Key been affected? Many beaches throughout Florida have been devastated, particularly in terms of shoreline lost. I would like to visit Siesta Key before the weather changes, so I am curious to know what to expect. | | A. | Siesta Key and the entire Sarasota area came out very lucky during the infamous (Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne season). If you would like you can view the Siesta Key Beach areas with their panoramic cameras on their chamber website: http://siestakeychamber.com You should have a wonderful visit.
| | Q. | Will be visiting long boat key soon & would like address of a library on long boat key. I thought that there had been one in Gulf Gate Mall. thank you, bas | | A. | Longboat Key Library, 555 Bay Isles Rd, (1 block north of Publix Supermarket), 941.383.2011
