Community Description
Short Description: Jennings is 80 miles from Tallahassee and 100 miles from Jacksonville. Two men named Jennings contributed the name of this town. Robert Jennings settled here in 1860, operating a farm and a general store. George Jennings came to this vicinity in 1884 on a raft by way of the Alapaha River. Jennings was an important shipping point for Sea Island cotton before World War I.
Nearby communities include Jasper (12 miles), Lee (18.5 miles), Valdosta, GA (21 miles), Live Oak (23 miles) and Madison (23.5 miles).
