Collier County Inquiry:

Q.Where is the best place in Naples or surrounding area to rent for two weeks in February?
A.

All of Naples is lovely and a wonderful location to visit in February. The Olde Naples is the downtown area and can be pricy this time of year, but is truly worth every nickel. This would be my recommendation if you are interested in the beach, Cambier Park, 5th Avenue, 3rd Street and the Naples Pier. If you are interested in golf, there are several locations that might suit you better.. The same may be true if there are several couples coming together or a large family. If you need specific assistance on local recommendations, I can assist you with that since I am a Downing-Frye Realty Realtor working on 5th Avenue in Naples. If you would like to speak with me further about this feel free to contact me at 239.261.0153 (office) or 239.285.2216 (cell) and ask for joey smith.

Q.I am Tish Poorman, founder of the Southwest Florida Children's Theater, owner of 1 Woman Productions, Inc. a corporation dedicated to producing, managing and development of young artists in the Collier County area.  I have a young woman who is interested in Pageants.  Please let me know if there is such a thing as Miss Collier County and if so, who do I contact to get her involved in this pageant, so that she can go to compete with the Miss Teen Florida, Miss Florida, etc....
A.As part of the Miss Florida USA there is Miss Naples USA and Miss Naples Teen USA. You can get an application on their website or by Email.

Miss Collier County is also held each year in preparation of the Collier County Fair, contact 239.293.2911 or by Email.

Q.I live close to the new Naples Regional Medical Center being built on S.951 (Collier Blvd.) just down from Rattlesnake Hammic.  I would like to know how to get in contact with human resourses managing that Medical center.  Thank You Bonnie
A.
Health Management Associates is currently constructing the new 100 beds, 260,000 square foot, $75 million hospital. It will be located near the intersection of Collier Blvd. and Rattlesnake Hammock Road in East Naples. You can contact their human resources department by Email or Fax at 239.598.2705. Here is a list of current HMA openings.

Q.Is there any transportaion from Naples, FL to Marlins games?
A.JoNell of the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau would like for you to know, while there is not a direct service going to stadium, there is a good option. The Alligator Alley Express offers daily shuttle service with four round trips daily between Naples Municipal Airport and Miami International Airport ($65 one-way; $120 round trip, per person, 866.843.7209).  From Miami International Airport, take a cab to Dolphins Stadium. Directions: Route 112 east to I-95. Take I-95 north to Ives Dairy Road. Turn left and proceed west for five miles. The stadium will be on the right. Disabled entrance at Gate 4. Dolphin Stadium, 2267 Dan Marino Blvd, 305.623.6100
Q.I know there are more than one Airboat tours in Everglades City. We were there in April and took an Airboat tour but I can not remember the name of the company. The tour was about an hour long. We will be traveling through there again in a couple of weeks with other family members and would like to take them on a tour. There was only one I saw on the internet in Everglades City. Would you please advise me of the other Airboat company's in Everglades City. Thank you.
A.    Here are several popular airboat tours in the Everglades City area. Most of them offer discounts on their websites. Whoever you choose, you will find it an exhilarating experience.

Everglades Private Airboats, 800.368.0065 (tollfree), Email

Q.i dont think there is 404 people that live in chokoloskee.
A.As of the 2000 US census, Chokoloskee, located in Collier County had a total population of 404, which includes 183 households, and 139 families in their census-designated place (CDP). A CDP identified, as a communities that lack separate municipal government, but which otherwise resemble incorporated places. There were also 589 total housing units. The average household size was 2.21 Floridians, enjoying the this lovely Everglades community.
Q.I am interested in an airboat tour in the Everglades. Is it better to go out of Everglades City or Florida City? Where do you have a better chance of seeing more wildlife?
A.Gliding on the “River of Grass” is an experience not to be missed. Whether in the Big Cypress National Preserve adjacent to Everglades City or Everglades National Park west of Florida City and south of Everglades City, most of the commercial airboat operators are experienced and knowledgeable about the unique flora and fauna found there. Either location offers qualified, experienced operators and the Everglades and its wildlife is breathtaking from either location. Personally, I prefer smaller 6-person boats and if your tour is only for 45 minutes you will be surprised how quickly your time on the water will be over. Again I prefer 2 hour or half-day trips; you will see a great deal more of the real Everglades. Airboats are loud, but operations work to muffle the sounds, for a more pleasant ride. Find a company willing to make special stops to view exotic birds and alligators. Above all, the company should have records of safety and that do not perform “thrill rides” across pristine areas. These “exhibitions” cause wide-scale damage, killing mangroves, extensive soil rutting in marshes and impact local wildlife. But when done with a guide whom you feel comfortable, there is no better way to view the natural beauty that surrounds you. Enjoy your trip.
Q.I am trying to find out about the Miss Collier County Pageant and i cant seem to find it anywhere could you please help me

A.There are a number of offshore Wrecks and artificial Reefs from Naples down to to Chokoloskee. Collier County maintains a good list with maps and the locations of all the reefs. Look at it here:  Collier County Artificial Reefs

A.

Q.I cannot find any information about the 2006 Everglades City Seafood Festival at your site. My fault or yours? Happy New Year! Best, Charles
A.

The 2006 Everglades City Seafood Festival with live music, arts and crafts and.. seafood....will be held February 3rd to February 5th, 2006. Everglades City rebounded remarkably well from the hurricane season damage. Applause for their quick efforts. We did a FloridaView Search for the event for you for complete information.

Q.Had a great week with you last year. Did you make it through the storms well enough for us to come down again. Will be in Florida around the middle of Feb and would then come to see you if all is ok.
A.

Everglades City was impacted, but with some minor setbacks bounced back quickly. All should be welcoming when you make your trip down in February.

Q.My son's birthday is on November 25th and he would like to spend the day eating stone crabs.  He was told that Everglades City was the place!  I would like to know how the storms affected the stone crab season and if there is a restaurant that could accomodate a group of about 30 people.  We are from Miami and are planning a trip this Friday after thanksgiving.
A.Everglades City is a historic blue crab trapping community in far southwestern Florida with easy access along the scenic Tamiami Trail (US-41) that originally combined Tampa with Miami. When constructed few cities were populated between the two: Sarasota, Venice, Punta Gorda, Ft Myers and the small sleepy community of Naples. In Everglades City,  City Seafood sells retail seafood an authentic dockside dining. The Ivey House has a lovely restaurant along with the Oyster House Restaurant, Oar House Restaurant, Seafood Depot located in the old Everglades RR Depot, and the Triad Seafood Restaurant each specializes in fresh stone crabs. Everglades City also features one of the best historic ambiance dining in Southwest Florida at the Rod and Gun Club. Even if you don't eat there, stop for a visit – it is a “reel” treat!
Q.trying to find web site for county court house or phone number for county clerk to check on property possession question, thanks for any help, john conley.
A.The Collier County Clerk of Circuit Courts (County Clerk) has a Land Records Online Inquiry System. If you don't find your answer there, you can contact them by Email by telephone at 239.7322646 or by mail at 3301 Tamiami Trail East, PO Box 413044, Naples, FL 34101-3044.
Q.We are trying to find our about the damage to our condo. Lake Placid Condos. Do you have any information? Sorry to be a bother but can't seem to get anyone and don't know if we should be coming down? Thanks, Ken and Sue Turner
A.

I spoke with Vivian at the Everglades City Hall (239.695.3781) and Vivian say to come on home to the Lake Placid Condos. They are intact and the water and electricity is on in Everglades City. There is an 11 PM curfew still in place and they might still be stopping people at Carnestown (Intersection of Hwy-29 & 41) - so you might need to take some evidence with you (old water bill, etc..) that you have property in town.

Q.What is the date of the St. Patricks Day Parade in Naples, in March 2006.  Thank you
A.The St. Patrick's Day Celebration in Naples will be March 18, 2006 from 10 AM until 5 PM at the Plaza on Fifth. For more details contact McCabe's Irish Pub and Grill at 239.263.0723.
Q.we have a renter in our home in December who will require an electric wheelechair for an elderly mother. Does anyone know where to rent one in Naples???...please :)Thanks...Graham.
A.
There are a couple good options for renting electric wheelchairs in Naples. First there is Palm Medical Supply, 411 Ninth Street N, 800.250.3472; 239.262.6592, Email. A second option is First Care Medical Supply, 689 Tamiami Trl N, 239.262.7772. I am certain all of them, including the mother, will have a fun December in Naples.

Q.Can a visitor to Naples get a parking permit?  If so, how much is the cost and is it possible to pay online for it?  I'll be in Naples from June 20th to July 8th.  Let me know as soon as you can. Thanks! Jessica
A.Yes, you can buy a parking pass that is good for a week at a time. The cost is $10 and it covers beach parking along the Gulf. What a deal! The contact number is: 239.213.1819, but you do need to be there in person to buy the pass. For other similar questions, the City of Naples Customer Service number is: 239.213.1800. Enjoy your visit!
Q.Are the Collier County public records available on-line?? I can't seem to find the link to help me - please advise...

Q.Is collier county government records online and if so please provide a web page.  Thanks for your assistance.
A.You should be able to find the records you need at Collier County Florida (Clerk of Courts, Court Administration, Elections Office, Property Appraiser and Tax Collector's Office).
Q.Is there a  cruise from the Naples area to Key West.  I enjoyed a one day round trip cruise on a small ship  a few years ago and question if there is still this opportunity.  Thanks.
A.The Key West Express Shuttle departs from Marco River Marina at 951 Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island, Florida. Leaves at 9 am and arrives around noontime and then leaves Key West at 5:30 pm Contact the Shuttle at 888.539.2628.
Q.HOW DO I HAVE A HIGHLY ACCURATE MADE FROM AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY ENLARGED TO A SCALE OF 1:1,200 (1"=100') FOR MAPPING BOUNDARIES OF MY PROPERTY?
A.Aerial photography is a series of overlapping pairs viewed in stereo. Then survey and identical points are measured on pairs of images. Accuracy depends upon the existing scale and the control. This might be relative accuracy and you might need absolute accuracy or (real world).  Resizing maps also might depend upon the type of mapping used, i.e.: TIFF, MapInfo, ArcView or AutoCAD. Call the Collier County Engineering Services Department at 239.659.5744 for assistance in obtaining a map to the scale you require or email the County Surveyor at Email Contact.
Q.CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT IS THE REGULATION OF THE DISTANCE A FENCE CAN BE ERECTED FROM THE BOUNDARY LINE BETWEEN PROPERTIES IN COLLIER COUNTY?
A.As a rule, property fences must be entirely on the property owners surveyed property. But some Florida Counties require there to be a 2-4 foot setback. It can be different for height as well as if it is commercial, agricultural or residential zoning. Contact the Collier County Building Review and Permitting Department at 239.403.2400 or email Email Contact. Note: Installing fences does require an Accessory Permit in Collier. The Express Application form can be used with 2 copies of site plan.
Q.I would like to see a map of Collier County. We are interested in visiting the area.
A.Here is a link to an online Collier County map  If you have time for a map to be sent to you feel free to email Email Contact. Marlene and her husband Craig have worked with us on a number of projects and I believe they would send you a good map to help you plan your trip (and might help with a few suggested stops). You will enjoy visiting Collier!
Q.Can you  give me an e-mail address list of local outfitters/captains for back country fishing in the Everglades City area. Thank You
