Putnam County Inquiry:
| Q. | I am trying to get information about the availability of docking space for the weekend of the Blue Crab Festival in Palatka May 2007. Is the Boathouse Marina still in operation? How can I contact someone about docking availability? Thank you for your assistance in this matter. | | A. | The Boathouse Marina located in Palatka, between markers 1 and 2 has recently changed ownership and an extensive remodeling/renovation program is underway. Included in this renovation are plans for new fuel service, and the design and permitting process have begun. In addition, the renovation will include lighted docks, new electrical (including 50amp) and water service, upgraded restroom and shower facilities. The work is to be completed during the next six months. Call them directly for updates at: 386.328.2944.
| | Q. | WE HAVE PROPERTY IN INTELACHEN LAKES ESTATE. WE HAVE OWNED IT FOR SEVERAL YEARS. IS THERE ANY GOOD NEWS ABOUT PEOPLE SELLING LOTS IN THIS AREA. WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET SOMEONE TO BE UP FRONT WITH US BUT IT SEEMS WE GET THE RUN AROUND. TELL ME IS THIS AREA BUILDING UP TO THE POINT WHERE WE MIGHT BE HOPEFULL IN SELLING THIS? | | A. | The Interlachen area has grown a little as a nice lakes area, especially with the improvements to Hwy-20 between Gainesville and St Augustine. But the entire market has been down across the real estate market and it will be a while before any major changes in Interlachen make it a positive place to sell property. This is mostly because there is a large backlog of platted vacant lots in Interlachen at this time.
| | Q. | do u have any new info as to if these roads were in fact completed and if so are there any pics to support this information. | | A. | While pictures of the completed work on the recent Interlachen project. We can tell you that Hwy-20 has been successfully completed as it extends toward Palatka.
| | Q. | hi i want to know ,1.if there is a break down of the job availabity here in interlachen / palatka / putnam city. 2.is there somehere i can search for aerial view of the area eg. street level, major highways and intersections or state roads in interlachen/putnam city florida. | | A. |
2. There are several aerial maps for Interlachen - the only handicaps are frequency and range of viewing. Since Putnam County is a rural part of Florida, the maps are limited in how much detail you can see. Probably the easiest to use and one of the best is Google Maps. Here is a link to Interlachen, Florida using Google Maps.
| | Q. | Thanks Florida Team, I've booked a Bed and Breakfast stay thanks to you (-: I'm really excited about it! Another question please, are the movie date and times posted? I'm particularly looking for the date and time for 29 Reasons to Run. Thanks, Cheryl | | A. | According to the schedule of the Gem City Film Festival, following a 10 minutes intermission, "29 Reasons To Run", directed by Damon O'steen, running 1 hour and 39 minutes, begins at 12:00 Noon. The Independent Film Festival portion is being held Saturday, February 18 at the Campbell Building of the Ravine Gardens State Park. To be absolutely certain, you might wish to confirm this with the Ravine Gardens at 386.329.3721. Enjoy and feel free to express your FloridaView pleasure to anyone who will speak to you, today, tomorrow, next Saturday or yesterday! Especially event coordinators and the B&B proprietor. While we have several B&B listing partners, none in the immediate Palatka vicinity.
| | Q. | I'm searching for information on "The Gem City Film Festival" Palatka, Florida. Can you help me? Thank you in advance. (-: | | A. | The Gem City Film Festival will be showing on all three days of the Rally for the Rivers,(Feb 17-19, 2006), an event to promote restoration of the Ocklawaha and St. Johns Rivers. Along with Gem City, the event is highlighted by Riverfest with continuous live music and entertainment, conservation seminars, sidewalk arts and crafts show of local and regional artists, environmental groups over 50 field trips and a Smart Growth Workshop on the Friday prior.
| | Q. | we have property in Georgetown. Lake George Manor and have been contacted via letter from someone interested in purchasing this land. It is not lake front but it could be within walking distance. It is also just a building lot. Since we are not living in Florida now we have no idea of the prices in this area. We would appreciate any advice, estimated prices on the lots there, etc. Thanking you for your time and help with this matter. Rebecca | | A. | We spoke with Patty Boyd, the resident broker with River Bass Realty in Georgetown. Patty told us interest in the Lake George Manor is increasing with ¼ acre lots selling for $10-$15,000 per lot, depending upon location. Acreage is selling for quite a bit more. As always we recommend you always talk with and consider using a local real estate professional. Especially if you are not able to keep a close eye on the market. They can do this job for you. If you want to talk with Patty directly call her at 386.467.3345 or by Email.
| | Q. | What are the area schools for K-12 grades? Does my child need to attend one of these or do I have a choice of maybe one of surrounding schools outside the area? Please list them and there specialty: i.e., Science, Technology, Arts, etc. Thank you in advance for your prompt response. Ms. Perez | | A. | Here is a link that shows all of the Public Schools in Putnam County. You do have the option of choice of schools. However, if the reason is "preference" and not a "hardship", you may have to cover the costs or the duties of transportation for your child. You should call Student Services at 386.698.0538 to get specifics concerning your needs.
| | Q. | road work started on route 20 to expand to 4 lane hwy and when is its completion date set | | A. | The two current SR-20 construction projects in Putnam County, adding two lanes from Francis (Radcliff Rd) to east of Hollister (Rowland Ave), 4.5 miles, and improvements to SR-20 (Crill Ave) in Palatka have an end of summer 2005 scheduled completion date. Three other contiguous SR-20 projects will be following directly on the “tire tread” of the current projects. Adding two lanes from west of CR-315 in Interlachen to Hollister, 5.5 miles, is scheduled to begin in 2006 as well as purchasing right-of-way from the Alachua County line to CR-315 in Interlachen, 10.8 miles. Landscaping east of Interlachen to SR-19 in Palatka has a 2007 scheduled construction date.
| | Q. | We have property in Interlachen Lakes Estates. We have noticed a lot of activity and offers for our lots in that area. Why all the interest all of a sudden. The property has set dormant for years. Is there some sort of building going on that puts our property in demand. We have has a lot of interest. What is going on? | | A. | Just like other remaining rural Florida areas, Putnam County with the Interlachen lakes, Palatka along the St. John's River and Crescent City bordering Lake Crescent are in the process of “being discovered”. Combine that with the 4-lane expansion of Hwy-20 and Interlachen is now a major midway point between Gainesville and St. Augustine. It was a slow-paced, less-traveled community along a narrow meandering Hwy-20. These merging factors account for the “interest all of a sudden”. Before making any selling decisions, have a conversation with a local real estate professional.
| | Q. | How do you join the moose club here? | | A. | To join Moose Lodge #184, you need to be complete an application and pay a $20 enrollment fee. Give the Lodge a call for an application at: 386.325.6948.
| | Q. | I need to inquire about boat and jet ski rentals. Where can I rent them? | | A. | Knight's Marina, 1472 River Ln in Green Cove Springs (904.284.7088) is 30 miles north of Interlachen and Raging Water Sports, 57 Comares Ave in St. Augustine (904.829.5001) is 40 miles east. They both rent watercraft.
