Ironically, Hurricane Jeanne may have topped Hurricane Charley as the most costly natural disaster to hit Polk County. A survey of 30 percent of the county showed that 12,000 structures sustained damage in Jeanne. Numerous structures in Lakeland still have not been inspected.
